The Alabama Tourism Department is preparing materials for our Year of Alabama Parks promotion in 2014. As part of the promotion, the tourism department will be producing a publication listing the top parks in our state.
We already have information on the 22 state parks operated by the Alabama Department of Conservation & Natural Resources- we are looking for information on the local parks in your area.
Examples of local parks include traditional city parks like Delano Park in Decatur and McFarland Park in Florence as well as urban downtown parks like Railroad Park in Birmingham and Big Springs Park in Huntsville.
Please select up to 3 local parks from your area and email the following information on them. Include a one sentence summary of the park, a paragraph description of the park and contact information for the park.
The deadline to turn in this information is Monday, Oct. 21.

Example: “The 19th- century Harriott II Riverboat docks at Montgomery’s Riverfront Park and is open for cruises several times each week. There is also a public boat ramp at the park. Concerts are held in the park’s amphitheater and minor-league baseball games are played at nearby Riverwalk Stadium.”
