The Christmas tornado that spun through Mobile damaged structures in several historic districts in the Midtown Mobile area. Three very important historic structures sustained considerable damage during the storm: Trinity Episcopal Church, Springhill Avenue Temple and Murphy High School. Historic Murphy High School, the largest public high school in the state of Alabama, suffered considerable damage to the auditorium, grounds, and supporting buildings on the campus. The Murphy Alumni Association has established the Tornado Restoration Fund to help with the grounds cleanup and landscaping. To donate, visit www.murphyalumni.org. Donations to the historic churches can be made to the following: Trinity Episcopal Church, 1900 Dauphin Street, Mobile, Alabama 36606 or Springhill Avenue Temple, 1769 Springhill Avenue, Mobile, Alabama 36607.
