Join Kentuck and the Downtown Northport merchants for the annual Dickens Downtown celebration December 5, 2006 from 5- 9 pm . The streets and shops of historic downtown Northport will come alive with Victorian music, crafts and family activities. Visitors can enjoy the sounds of the holidays with live music, a visit with Father Christmas, carolers, a winter wonderland and much more. The shops and galleries of downtown Northport will be open and decorated for the holidays, and merchants will be in traditional Victorian costume.

Steo back into a festive 19th-century holiday celebration at Oakleigh Historic Complex.Daily activities 10-4, will feature seasonal music, horse-drawn carriage rides, guided tours, Victorian Santa, exhibitors, and refreshments. Tours by candlelight are 6:30-8:00. Day admission $5.00 members, $10.00 nonmembers. Evening admission $7.00 members, $12.00 nonmembers, $5.00 children.

Governor’s Mansion Candlelight Open House

Monday nights Dec. 8, 15, and 22.  Tour the the state’s executive
residence while it’s decorated in all its holiday grandeur. The 1907
Governor’s Mansion will be aglow with lights and filled with the spirit
of the season.

Victorian Front Porch Tour
Opelika; Dec 9-Dec 13

See the historic Victorian homes of Opelika transformed into an Ole
World Christmas wonderland.  Over 60 turn-of-the-century homes are
adorned with life-size Santas, angels, toys, teddy bears, carousel
horses and other figures.  Featured in Southern Living and Better Homes
and Gardens, Opelika artist Jan Jones spent years creating the
impressive displays by loving hand.  A self-directed driving or walking
tour, the event includes live entertainment, carolers, costumed
homeowners and other festivities.

Rocket City Marathon, 32nd Annual
Huntsville; Dec 13

For the past 32 years the Rocket City Marathon has been a premiere
marathon event in the South. Conducted by the Huntsville Track Club, it
scores double points on the Running Journal Grand Prix XXVIII
Championship Circuit.

Christmas on the Coosa

Christmas extravaganza with arts and crafts, parade, food, quilt show,
classic car show, entertainment and activities on the Coosa River
culminating with a spectacular fireworks exhibition at dusk.
