The Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce, hopes to encourage tourists to take part in the natural attractions that the area has to offer with the launch of their new tourism brand for Calhoun County: Visit Calhoun County. The tourism brand will be revealed December 6, 2012 at the Anniston Natural History Museum. Ebonee Thompson, Tourism and Marketing Director for Visit Calhoun County/Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce, said, “Many people don’t realize just how much of an effect tourism has on our area. Everything from hotels to restaurants and shopping and outdoor recreation influence our area, in terms of tourism. With Visit Calhoun County, we want to be sure we’re letting people know that Calhoun County also has something for everyone on vacation.” Calhoun County currently brings in $150 million in total sales benefits and 2,250 jobs strictly from tourism. Linda Hearn, Chamber manager, said, “We are excited that we are able to showcase the great tourism amenities that we have in Calhoun County. Visit Calhoun County will help us market our area to travelers.”
The new tourism brand is a result of a year-long process that started with the creation of a marketing strategy, which helped determine what attracted visitors to Calhoun County and assisted in developing the ultimate brand direction.
Visit Calhoun County’s consumer campaign will launch the first phase of its brand, with the reveal of its website, logo and visitor’s guide, December 6, 2012 at The Anniston Natural History Museum 5:30-7:30pm. Guest speaker Grey Brennan, from the Alabama Tourism Department, will be on hand to speak about the importance of tourism in Calhoun County. Visit Calhoun County will serve as the official tourism arm for the County and will operate within The Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce.
