Most businesses are reporting losses this year, but that is not the case for the Alabama tourism industry. The numbers prove tourism in the Wiregrass is booming, up almost 20 percent this past year alone.
The tourism industry in the Wiregrass is proving to be a success despite this struggling economy. Bob Hendrix with the Dothan Convention & Visitors Bureau said, “Our numbers are up about 1 percent in occupancy and then our revenue is up 18 percent due to the fact that our hotels are charging more.”
