Moulton, Alabama – The Alabama Chicken and Egg Festival has been selected as one of the Southeast Tourism Society’s 2013 Top 20 Events for the month of April. The Alabama Chicken and Egg Festival, a celebration of arts and agriculture, brings approximately 18,000 visitors to Moulton over the course of three days. The annual event takes place at the Lions Club Fairgrounds and features a poultry show, a juried art show, Southern Folklife Artists, eating contests, and live music.
“Each year, the best events across the Southeast compete to receive the Top 20 Events designation, and I am thrilled the Alabama Chicken and Egg Festival has been selected. We are excited about the exposure this prestigious list will generate for the festival and Moulton,” said Kim Hood, executive director of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce.
The Top 20 Events list began in 1985 as a way to promote the best events in the Southeast. To be nominated for a Top 20 Event, an event must be at least in its third year and must have a minimum attendance of 1000. Through a nomination process, Southeast Tourism Society chooses the Top 20 events in the Southeast for each month of the year and publishes this list of winners quarterly. The Top 20 Events publication is sent to over 1,600 newspapers, magazines, radio stations, TV stations, AAA publications and others. Founded in 1983, the Southeast Tourism Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and development of tourism to its 12 member states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
